Jindal Steel commissions first galvanising line at Angul plant

Jindal Steel has successfully commissioned its first continuous galvanising line (CGL 1) at its integrated steel complex in Angul, Odisha, marking a key milestone in expanding its coated steel product range.

The new line will manufacture galvanised and galvalume products under the Jindal Panther Galvanised and Zinkalume brands, serving sectors such as appliances, automotive, infrastructure, and construction.

CGL 1 is capable of processing steel with thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths between 700 mm and 1400 mm. It also offers HR galvanised coils (1.00-1.50 mm) for applications like tubes, silos, tank farms, and pre-engineered buildings, along with high-strength galvanised steel for automotive underbody components.

Looking ahead, Jindal Steel plans to add another 6 mln tons per annum of crude steel capacity at the Angul plant this year, boosting its total to 12 mln tons annually by the end of 2025, positioning it among India’s largest single-location steel facilities.
