Chinese solar manufacturer Longi has expressed interest in setting up a solar panel production facility in Algeria, following recent talks with officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mining, according to local media reports.
The discussions also covered broader cooperation in the energy sector, including investment opportunities in solar power, green hydrogen, and energy storage. Both sides explored the potential for strategic partnerships with local companies and national research institutions.
This potential collaboration aligns with Algeria’s renewable energy ambitions, particularly its plan to install 15,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2035, primarily from solar energy. Partnering with Longi could help advance these targets and reduce reliance on imported solar technologies.
