Mesabi Metallics has awarded Metso a contract for beneficiation plant equipment for its Direct-Reduction (DR) grade iron ore plant in Nashwauk, Minnesota. The plant is key to securing the supply of DR-grade pellets in the U.S. and supporting steel production decarbonization.
The order includes Concorde Cell flotation cells, which are crucial for optimizing flotation performance in the plant’s iron ore processing. These high-intensity cells, part of Metso’s Plus offering, enhance selectivity for fine and ultrafine particles, according to Martin Nevens, Director of Minerals Sales for North and Central America at Metso.
The total order is valued at approximately USD 10.3 mln and also includes slurry pumps, SC vacuum filters for dewatering iron concentrate, and Low Intensity Magnetic Separators (LIMS) for magnetic material recovery.
