Mescier Demir Celik to build solar plant to cut costs and emissions

Mescier Demir Celik, an electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker based in Bartin, Turkey, plans to construct a 30 MW solar power plant in the Esme district of Usak. The project aims to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, local media reports.

The solar plant, valued at approximately TRY 965 mln (USD 27 mln), will feature 52,174 solar panels with 575 Wp capacity and 100 inverters with 330 kW capacity. It will be built on 20 hectares of private land.

Mescier, which began as a trader of iron and steel products in the 1960s in Karabuk, transitioned into manufacturing with the establishment of its rolling mill in 1990. The company operates plants in Karabuk and Bartin, with annual production capacities of 150,000 tons and 650,000 tons, respectively. Its product portfolio includes equal angles, flat, square, and round bars, as well as IPN, UPN, and IPE profiles.
