Metinvest Group’s steelmaking facilities in Ukraine introduced 20 new products in 2024, including six developed in collaboration with the Zaporizhstal joint venture. The majority of these products were in the long products segment (12), followed by cold-rolled coils and sheets (four), hot-rolled coils and sheets (two), and galvanized coils and semi-finished products (one each).
Kamet Steel and Zaporizhstal were the key contributors to the new product launches, with Unisteel, Metinvest’s galvanized steel producer, introducing one new product.
Kamet Steel focused on long products, launching new rebar sizes and strength classes based on Ukrainian national standards, as well as rebar conforming to Polish technical standards. It also introduced six types of wire rod in various steel grades and sizes, meeting Ukrainian, international, European, and American standards for use in construction, machine building, and metal products. Additionally, Kamet Steel started producing hot-rolled profiles for supporting mine workings, and round steel bars (27 mm diameter) used in construction and machine building.
Zaporizhstal introduced four new cold-rolled steel products: S250GD coil for further galvanizing, S215G rolled steel for profiles, DC01 coil for precise forming applications, and cold-rolled cut sheets for structural elements. These products are aimed at the construction, machine building, and metal product sectors.
In hot-rolled steel, Zaporizhstal launched S355JR/S355J2 coils and sheets, as well as sheets made from 09G2/09G2S steel, both tailored for the construction and machine-building industries. The former is used in electric-welded pipes, while the latter is used for railway wagon components.
Unisteel began producing S250GD-S280GD galvanized steel grades from coils supplied by Zaporizhstal, intended for corrosion-resistant construction applications. Kamet Steel also launched continuously cast square billets with higher quality standards for critical applications in long and structural steel manufacturing.
