Mobarakeh Steel Group, Iran’s largest steel producer, has achieved a milestone with the first domestic production of S650MC high-strength hot-rolled steel sheet, marking a major step in localizing advanced automotive-grade steel production.
The new S650MC grade, developed by Saba Steel & Rolling, a subsidiary of Mobarakeh Steel Group, is a high-strength micro-alloyed steel used for reinforcement parts and chassis in both light and heavy vehicles. Previously imported, this product’s local manufacture reduces reliance on foreign supply and supports the country’s automotive industry.
According to company technical leaders, producing S650MC involved meticulous control of metallurgy and rolling processes to meet international standards such as EN 10149, ensuring properties like high yield strength, durability, and formability.
