North Star BlueScope Steel has awarded Danieli the contract to modernize the run-out table laminar cooling system at its Quality Strip Production (QSP) facility in Delta, Ohio. The project also includes the installation of a third down coiler downstream of the original two coilers, supplied in 1995, to help debottleneck operations and support increased production targets.
As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the hot strip mill, Danieli will supply complete mechanical equipment packages and provide technical services for installation and commissioning across both projects.
The upgrades aim to enhance efficiency, expand the facility’s product capabilities, and reinforce North Star’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in steel production.
The cooling system will be installed in two phases, while the new down coiler will be implemented largely during plant operations. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the end of Q1 2027, using three planned outages.
