Egypt’s Orascom Construction and Spanish energy firm Tecnicas Reunidas have signed a USD 2.6 bln engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Qurayyah IPP expansion project in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
The contract was signed with Hajr Two Electricity Company, a consortium comprising ACWA Power, Saudi Electricity Company, and Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. Ltd.
Under a 50-50 joint venture, Orascom and Tecnicas Reunidas will build a 3-gigawatt (GW) combined cycle gas-fired power plant, which will also feature carbon capture readiness and a 380 kV electrical substation.
