Outokumpu, a global leader in sustainable stainless steel, has partnered with Danish water solutions company Grundfos to accelerate the use of low-emission materials. As part of the collaboration, most of the stainless steel Grundfos sources from Outokumpu will transition to Circle Green, stainless steel with up to 93pct lower carbon footprint than the global industry average.
By the end of this year, approximately 90pct of the stainless steel used in Grundfos’ energy-efficient and water-saving pump production will be Circle Green, supporting both the company’s climate goals and Europe’s broader decarbonization targets for 2050.
Grundfos develops advanced pump and water technologies to address global challenges such as climate change and water scarcity, focusing on energy efficiency and wastewater reuse. Using low-carbon materials like Circle Green further enhances the sustainability of its solutions.
Outokumpu’s Circle Green was the first stainless steel of its kind with such a low carbon footprint, featuring product-specific emission data for each delivery. Over 40 companies across Europe and Asia have already adopted it to reduce their environmental impact.
