Pacific Steel to commission new rebar mill in California

Pacific Steel Group (PSG) is developing a MIDA Hybrid QLP-DUE minimill in Mojave, California, incorporating Danieli-patented technologies and on-site renewable energy. Spanning 255,000 sqm, the facility will have the capacity to produce 380,000 short tons of straight and spooled rebar annually.

The engineering phase is complete, and construction officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 5. Plant commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

The facility will feature a continuous scrap charging system, with Digimelter and LF digital melting and refining units, powered by the Q-One digital power feeder to optimize power conditions across different frequencies.

Liquid steel will be processed into finished rebar within 10 minutes using endless casting-rolling technology, supported by Danieli Automation systems for production intelligence, energy management, and robotics, ensuring efficiency and safety.
