Turkey imported 3 mln tons of scrap in the first two months of 2025, marking a YoY decline of nearly 13pct, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The Netherlands emerged as the leading supplier during this period, exporting 609,000 tons of scrap to Turkey. The United States followed with 364,000 tons, while Belgium and the United Kingdom shipped approximately 331,900 tons and 311,800 tons, respectively.
In February 2025 alone, Turkey’s scrap imports totaled 1.55 mln tons, reflecting a decrease of around 5pct both YoY and compared to the previous month.
