Chinese steel producer, Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel has successfully trialed the production of 0.7 mm ultra-thin HRC at its QSP-DUE plant in the Caofeidian industrial area, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. This plant is the first to operate with three different modes for maximum production flexibility.
The facility, which uses Danieli Universal Endless (DUE) technology, can roll a wide range of steel grades, including weathering steel, peritectic, alloy steels, TRIP, and Dual Phase steels. It supports widths from 900 to 1,600 mm and thicknesses from 0.8 to 12.7 mm, exceeding its original design specifications.
Equipped with the Danieli-patented DySen caster, the plant has achieved a casting speed of 6.0 m/min and maintained a continuous casting sequence for 16.7 hours, producing 29 heats. The plant’s monthly output is approximately 200,000 tons. By focusing on producing light and ultra-light gauges, with 60pct of the output below 1.5 mm, the Danieli Universal Endless plant offers Shougang Jingtang a competitive edge in the demanding Chinese steel market.
