SSAB announced that Denmark-based Meneta Group has begun using SSAB Zero steel in its automotive brake components, marking a key step toward more sustainable vehicle manufacturing.
The milestone builds on the companies’ 2023 strategic partnership. SSAB Zero is now integrated into Meneta’s production of shims, backplates, clips, and sealing materials, helping the company cut Scope 3 CO2 emissions by an estimated 5,500-6,000 tons annually, with a long-term target of 60,000 tons.
Produced from recycled steel and fossil-free electricity, SSAB Zero delivers zero fossil carbon emissions during production. This supports Meneta’s ambition to be among the first automotive suppliers to offer low-CO2 components.
Founded in 1953, Meneta is a global leader in brake components and sealing materials. SSAB, with annual crude steel capacity of 8.8 mln tons across Sweden, Finland, and the U.S., is a leading producer of advanced high-strength and quenched & tempered steels.
