Steel Exchange India has increased production capacity at its billet mill and rolling bar mill at its Visakhapatnam plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The billet mill capacity has been expanded by 45pct, rising from 250,000 tons to 362,000 tons per annum. Meanwhile, the rolling bar mill capacity has grown by over 58pct, from 225,000 tons to 357,000 tons per annum.
This expansion is expected to reduce costs by up to INR 3,000 (USD 35) per ton for 8 mm and 10 mm products that were previously outsourced for processing.
