Stegra has signed new agreements to strengthen its logistics network for the upcoming green steel plant in Boden.
At Skelleftea Port, the expanded section will handle shipments of steel coils from Boden, with Finnish operator Rauanheimo taking charge of parts of the cargo handling. Stegra has also partnered with Rauanheimo and Kvarken Ports at Umea Port to prepare for receiving and handling scrap needed for production.
These deals mark Rauanheimo’s entry into the Swedish market and complement Stegra’s earlier agreement with the Port of Lulea, ensuring a flexible, integrated freight solution for both incoming raw materials and outgoing steel products.
Stegra plans to launch its first steel production lines in 2026 using recycled scrap, followed by hydrogen-based green iron and steel in 2027, with full-scale operations targeted for 2028.
