Stegra has signed a letter of intent with Galmed Steel under which Galmed will galvanize green steel produced at Stegra’s Boden plant to serve parts of Stegra’s automotive customer base.
Galmed Steel, based in Sagunto, Spain, specializes in hot-dip galvanized flat steel and corrosion-resistant coated products. The partnership will enable Stegra to offer galvanized green steel while leveraging Galmed’s established coating expertise.
Stegra said the agreement reflects growing cross-value-chain collaboration aimed at bringing near-zero-emission steel to market across different customer segments.
Stegra plans to start scrap-based steel production in 2026, followed by hydrogen-based green iron and steel in 2027, with full-scale operations targeted for 2028.
