Tata Steel Nederland has joined the Low Emission Steel Standard (LESS), an independent non-profit organization promoting the steel industry’s transition to climate neutrality, the company announced in a press release.
LESS develops standardized frameworks and labeling systems for low-emission steel. Tata Steel’s membership supports its goal of producing circular and CO2-neutral steel and reinforces its leadership in sustainable steelmaking in Europe.
Through this partnership, Tata Steel Nederland can offer customers certified low-emission steel, providing transparency and helping clients and policymakers verify the sustainability of its products. This also enables buyers to meet their own environmental goals in an increasingly eco-conscious market.
With sustainability gaining importance, clear and certifiable standards like LESS help measure a product’s contribution to the green transition, the company noted.
Located in IJmuiden, Tata Steel Nederland has an annual crude steel production capacity of 7.5 mln tons and manufactures a range of products including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, galvanized, pre-painted, and tinplate steel.
