Tokyo Steel expands flat product range with Okayama plant upgrade

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing plans to invest nearly JPY 10 bln (USD 70 mln) to upgrade its hot-dip galvanizing line at the Okayama Plant, enabling production of cold-rolled coils and expanding its flat steel product offerings.

The existing line will be transformed into a dual-purpose facility by enhancing its heating and cooling systems. This modification will allow the line to produce both cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanized coils, making full use of its current annealing equipment.

With a planned annual production capacity of 250,000 tons, the revamped line is expected to begin operations in early 2027. The project aims to meet rising demand for low-carbon steel solutions.
