According to Vale’s operational report, the company’s Oman facility experienced a 2.2 pct year-on-year decline in iron ore pellet production during H1 2023. The total production of iron ore pellets reached 4.33 mln tons during this period, compared to 4.43 mln tons in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
However, the iron ore pellet output in Q2 remained stable, with 2.613 mln tons, showing no significant change compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Nevertheless, there was a remarkable increase of 52 pct in Q2 on a quarter-on-quarter basis.
Vale Oman’s pelletizing plant in Sohar Port, established with an investment of roughly USD 2 bln in 2011, features two pelletizing trains, each capable of producing 4.5 mln tons per annum of direct reduction pellets (DRI).
