In May, Turkish wire rod exports showed a notable rebound, increasing by 47pct compared to the previous month. However, the YoY figures remained bleak, with exports plummeting by 63pct.
The total exports for May amounted to 39,533 tons, with Israel emerging as the top buyer, importing 14,756 tons. Australia followed closely with 6,735 tons, while Canada secured 4,563 tons.
Other significant destinations for Turkish wire rod included Romania (4,552 tons), Spain (3,618 tons), Egypt (3,604 tons), and Kosovo (2,998 tons).
Looking at the period from January to May 2023, wire rod exports from Turkey experienced a substantial decline of over 60pct year-over-year, totaling 195,466 tons.
Israel remained the primary export destination for Turkish wire rod during this period, receiving 98,847 tons. Other noteworthy destinations included Australia (18,109 tons), Romania (16,234 tons), Spain (6,568 tons), Egypt (6,398 tons), Paraguay (5,586 tons), Haiti (5,060 tons), and Canada (5,050 tons).
