Ferrosource is nearing completion of a new steel processing facility at the Big River Steel Works campus in Osceola, Arkansas, with operations expected to begin in August 2026.
The project introduces an on-campus processing model that integrates mill production with value-added services, eliminating inbound freight requirements while reducing transit times and material handling. The facility will offer multi-modal outbound logistics, with access to truck, rail and barge transportation via the Mississippi River system, enabling distribution across the central United States.
The new Ferrosource Metal Processing (FMP) unit is designed to support expanding capacity at Big River Steel Works and will process a range of products including galvanized, galvalume, galvannealed, pre-painted and cold rolled steel.
The integrated setup is expected to streamline the supply chain from steel production to processing, reducing lead times and improving delivery efficiency for end-users across sectors such as construction, agriculture, HVAC and appliances.
The investment exceeds USD 70 mln and is expected to create more than 40 direct jobs, with total employment impact exceeding 100 positions, including indirect roles.
Ferrosource said the facility will enhance supply chain efficiency by combining sourcing, processing and logistics within a single platform, supporting steel consumers across North America.
Ferrosource is a steel processing and supply company serving manufacturers and distributors across North America, with administrative offices in New York. Through its own processing facilities and a network of mill and affiliate partners, the company provides sourcing, processing, multi-modal logistics and price-risk management services.
Big River Steel Works, a U.S. Steel facility located in Osceola, Arkansas, is one of the most advanced flat-rolled steel mills in North America, with a combined annual raw steelmaking capacity of approximately 6 mln tons across two integrated complexes.
