Metal Care Center Factory LLC commissioned a new scrap-based induction furnace rebar mill with annual production capacity of 300,000 tons at the UAQ Industrial Area in Umm Al Quwain, UAE.
According to the company, the project is aimed at strengthening the UAE’s green steel production capacity through scrap-based steelmaking technology.
The company stated that the new facility is expected to support industrial and economic growth in the Northern Emirates while expanding the region’s steel manufacturing infrastructure.
The plant utilizes induction furnace technology for rebar production, supporting lower-emission steelmaking through the use of recycled scrap raw materials.
In 2023, Metal Care, together with three other steel companies, announced plans to develop a dedicated metal zone spanning around 1.4 mln square feet in UAQ Industrial City.
One of the companies, Rhino Steel, started operations at the Middle East’s first fully automated continuous coating line in Umm Al Quwain Industrial City last year, with annual capacity of 250,000 tons of aluzinc coils.
Other projects in the zone include CIM Steel Industry’s cold rolling mill complex with annual capacity of 500,000 tons, as well as Aziz Steel’s pipe and tube roll-forming lines with annual capacity of 120,000 tons.
