Tenaris has announced plans to invest more than USD 90 mln in its steelmaking and seamless pipe manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania, as part of efforts to improve efficiency, increase production capacity and enhance workplace safety.
The investment will cover upgrades at the company’s steel shop in Koppel and seamless pipe mill in Ambridge. The projects will include automation initiatives, equipment modernization and operational improvements designed to boost productivity and reliability across both facilities.
At the Koppel steel shop, Tenaris will upgrade its electric arc furnace and install higher-capacity ladles, supporting increased production and improved safety. The company will also develop a new steel bar yard in Koppel and a bar cutting facility in Ambridge to streamline material flow between the two sites.
In addition, Tenaris plans to upgrade the shredder at its adjacent scrap processing facility following the acquisition of SA Recycling by Steel Recycling Services, a Tenaris subsidiary. The project is expected to strengthen the company’s vertically integrated steel production chain.
Work on the upgrades is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with most projects expected to be completed during the second half of 2027.
Tenaris said the latest investment follows approximately USD 150 mln already invested in the Koppel and Ambridge facilities since acquiring the operations in 2020.
Tenaris is a leading global manufacturer of steel pipes for the energy industry, supplying seamless and welded tubular products for oil and gas drilling, production and transportation applications.
