Turkish steelmaker Kardemir has signed a USD 2.93 mln contract to supply railway wheels to a customer operating in the Czech Republic, according to the company’s stock exchange filing.
The latest agreement follows a series of export contracts announced in recent weeks. Last week, Kardemir secured a USD 2.48 mln railway wheel supply contract with a customer in Bulgaria, after previously signing a USD 2.25 mln contract with another customer in the Czech Republic, with the first shipment completed on 18 June 2026.
The company has also recently appointed Amsted Rail as the exclusive distributor and reseller of its railway products across North, Central and South America under a master supply and resale agreement aimed at expanding exports of high value-added railway products.
Kardemir operates Turkey’s only railway wheel production facility, with an annual capacity of 200,000 wheels. The plant manufactures wheels for locomotives, passenger and freight wagons, as well as urban rail systems, serving both domestic and export markets.
Founded in 1937, Kardemir is also Turkey’s only producer of both railway rails and railway wheels. The company manufactures a wide range of long steel products, including billets, blooms, rebar, wire rod, rails and structural sections.
