Tata Steel has announced plans to double its manufacturing capacity in India, increasing production from 21 mln tons per annum to approximately 40 mln tons per annum. The company primarily operates in Jamshedpur, Gamharia, Kalinganagar, and Meramandali.
As production approaches 40 mln tons, Tata Steel’s share of India-manufactured steel will rise to over 75pct of its total output, up from the current 62pct. During its 117th Annual General Meeting, Tata Steel outlined its vision to achieve this growth through both organic and inorganic strategies. Globally, Tata Steel has a crude steel capacity of 35 mln tons per annum and aims to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2045. It is also pursuing major sustainability initiatives, including a USD 1.36 bln investment in low-CO2 steelmaking in the UK and a target to reduce carbon emissions by 35-40pct in the Netherlands by 2030.
