Turkey’s scrap import prices fell this week as weak steel demand and lower billet import offers limited scrap buying activity. Prices were assessed at USD 380 per ton CFR, down USD 10 per ton from the previous week.
Despite the decline, further decreases in scrap import prices are constrained by higher collection costs and increased freight rates.
Demand for Turkish finished steel remains weak both domestically and internationally, with regional conflicts impacting key export markets. Although prices for rebar and wire rod remained largely stable, Turkish mills are offering discounts to secure new orders.
Rebar export offers are in the range of USD 580-590 per ton FOB, while wire rod export prices remained at USD 595-605 per ton FOB.
