Tata Steel reported a 4.56pct YoY increase in crude steel production, reaching 5.27 mln tons in Q2 FY25 from its Indian operations. During the same period, Tata Steel India recorded a 5pct YoY rise in deliveries, totaling 5.1 mln tons. For the first half of FY25, crude steel production grew by 5pct YoY to 10.53 mln tons, while deliveries increased by 4pct YoY to 10.04 mln tons.
In September 2024, Tata Steel India successfully commissioned the country’s largest blast furnace at its Kalinganagar facility. The ramp-up of operations at Kalinganagar is expected to boost Tata Steel India’s crude steel capacity to 26.6 mln tons per annum.
In Europe, Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.68 mln tons of liquid steel in Q2 FY25, reflecting an increase YoY and stability QoQ. Deliveries amounted to 1.57 mln tons, including around 0.19 mln tons supplied to UK operations. In H1 FY25, crude steel production at Tata Steel Netherlands surged to 3.37 mln tons, up from 2.14 mln tons in the same period last year, while deliveries rose to 3.04 mln tons from 2.6 mln tons in H1 FY24.
Tata Steel UK’s liquid steel production reached 0.38 mln tons, with deliveries around 0.64 mln tons. Operations have ceased at the remaining blast furnace in Port Talbot, preparing the site for the transition to next-generation green steelmaking.
In Thailand, Tata Steel’s production increased slightly to 0.3 mln tons, up from 0.28 mln tons YoY. Steel deliveries remained stable at 0.28 mln tons.
