British Steel’s Scunthorpe secures key wire rod certification for automotive sector

British Steel’s wire rod team has successfully retained its IATF 16949 certification, reaffirming its commitment to quality and reliability, according to a company press release.

The annual audit for the Scunthorpe Rod Mill (SRM), which supplies the automotive sector, once again delivered strong results. SRM produces a wide range of wire rod specifications used in critical automotive components such as suspension springs, valve springs, tire cord, tire bead, and fasteners. IATF 16949 certification remains a key requirement for supplying many of these customers.

The audit, conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), adheres to strict guidelines for product quality management. It focuses on improving customer satisfaction, enhancing quality control, reducing variability and waste, and driving continuous improvement.
