G Steel to launch cold rolling operations in 2026

Thailand-based hot-rolled coil producer G Steel, a subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation, is expanding its Rayong plant by adding cold rolling capabilities.

The company has partnered with Danieli to install a four-high skin-pass mill, utilizing technology from Danieli Thailand. The new facility, set to begin operations in April 2026, will enhance the value of up to 720,000 tons of hot-rolled strip produced on-site.

Delivered on a turnkey basis, the project includes automation controls and electrical systems. Equipped with HAGC (Hydraulic Automatic Gap Control) cylinders and E-Type bending blocks, the mill ensures precise gap adjustment and flatness control for superior strip quality. Most of the processed strip will be supplied to the local market for use in various industries.
