Tata Steel confirms no production impact after Kalinganagar incident

An incident at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar melt shop injured nine individuals, the company said in a statement, without providing specific details.

Local media reports suggested the injuries resulted from an explosion at the plant’s melt shop. However, Tata Steel confirmed that all affected individuals are out of danger and that production remains unaffected.

The company stated that relevant authorities and the families of the injured have been informed. The site has been secured, and an internal investigation is underway to determine the cause.

Tata Steel recently expanded its Kalinganagar facility by commissioning India’s largest blast furnace, increasing its production capacity from 3 mln to 8 mln tons per annum.
