JSW Steel reported its highest-ever quarterly consolidated crude steel production of 7.63 mln tons in Q4 FY25, marking a 12pct YoY increase and a 9pct rise from the previous quarter, according to a stock exchange filing.
The record performance was largely driven by the company’s Indian operations, which also achieved their highest-ever quarterly output at 7.40 mln tons, up 13pct YoY, with a capacity utilisation rate of 93pct.
JSW Steel noted steady progress at its 5 mln tons per annum integrated steel project at Vijayanagar, being developed by its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd. (JVML). Following the commissioning of a 4.5 mln tons per annum blast furnace, sinter plant, and raw material handling system in Q2 FY25, JVML also brought one of the two converters and casters at its steel melt shop online in Q3. Once fully operational, Vijayanagar’s crude steel capacity will reach 17.5 mln tons per annum, raising JSW’s total Indian capacity to 34.2 mln tons per annum.
For the full fiscal year 2025, JSW Steel recorded a 5pct YoY growth in consolidated crude steel production, reaching 27.79 mln tons. The company’s Indian operations contributed 26.98 mln tons, up 6pct YoY. Meanwhile, JSW Steel USA-Ohio produced 81,000 tons, slightly down from 87,000 tons in the previous year.
JSW Steel’s consolidated crude steel capacity currently stands at 35.7 mln tons per annum, including 1.5 mln tons per annum in the US. The company aims to expand this to 43.5 mln tons per annum over the next three years as part of its next growth phase.
