Metinvest’s Spartan UK supplies HR plates for Everton’s new football stadium

Spartan UK, part of the Metinvest Group, supplied 1,000 tons of HR plates for the construction of Everton Football Club’s new 52,888-capacity stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, completed in 2024. The plates played a crucial role in ensuring structural integrity, particularly under the project’s innovative ‘no-blockwork’ design, which replaced traditional masonry with precisely assembled steel components, according to Metinvest.

Severfield, the UK’s leading structural steel specialist, handled the steelwork, designing, fabricating, and erecting around 12,200 tons of structural steel. A highlight of the project was the early 2023 installation of the final 100-ton steel truss, completed ahead of schedule and showcasing the team’s efficiency and coordination.

Spartan UK’s plate mill is a quarto universal reversing mill with automatic gauge control, capable of producing up to 200,000 tons annually. It manufactures plates ranging from 8 to 150 mm in thickness, up to 2,100 mm wide, and up to 22 meters long.
