Tenova and Coolbrook collaborate on clean heating solutions for steel industry

Italy’s Tenova, a provider of sustainable solutions for the metals and mining industries and Coolbrook, a leader in industrial electrification, have formed a strategic partnership to advance Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology. This collaboration will replace fossil fuel use with clean electricity for high-temperature heating in the iron, steel, and metals industries.

The RDH technology complements Tenova’s innovative solutions, enabling fully electrified, decarbonized processes that significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The partnership will focus initially on integrating RDH into Tenova’s acid regeneration plant technology, with plans to expand to other metal industry applications.

Coolbrook’s RDH technology offers a groundbreaking approach to high-temperature heating, using CO2-free electricity to replace fossil fuels. With the potential to cut over 2.4 bln tons of CO2 emissions annually, it represents a key step toward carbon-free manufacturing. Proven to generate heat beyond 1000 Celsius, the RDH can reach up to 1700 Celsius, marking a breakthrough in decarbonizing high-temperature industrial processes. Coolbrook aims to make RDH an industry standard by 2030.
