    Emirates Steel CEO to step down after 19 years

    EMSTEEL, the UAE’s leading steel and building materials manufacturer, has announced that Saeed Al Ghafri, CEO of its steel division, Emirates Steel, will step down after 19 years with the company. He will continue in his role until the end of June to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

    A successor will be named in due course. In the interim, operational and commercial responsibilities will be jointly managed by Emirates Steel’s Chief Operating Officer, Medhat Hashem, and Chief Commercial Officer, Michael Rion, the company confirmed in a stock exchange filing.

    EMSTEEL Group comprises two core divisions: Emirates Steel and Emirates Cement. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Emirates Steel boasts an annual production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement. The group exports to over 70 countries, with international sales accounting for 30pct of its total revenue. Its product portfolio includes wire rod, rebar, heavy sections, and sheet piles.
