Tokyo Steel holds prices Steady for June amid market uncertainty

Tokyo Steel, Japan’s leading electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker, has announced it will keep its product prices unchanged for June, reflecting ongoing global and domestic market challenges.

The company’s HRC prices remain at JPY 89,000 (USD 611) per ton, while pickled and oiled coils stay at JPY 95,000 (USD 652) per ton. Coated coils are unchanged at JPY 121,000 (USD 831) per ton.

In the long products segment, rebar prices are steady at JPY 85,000 (USD 584) per ton, and H-beam prices remain at JPY 112,000 (USD 769) per ton.

The company cited continued global headwinds, including protectionist trade measures, prolonged tensions with the U.S., and volatile financial markets, which have curbed steel demand. Domestically, high construction costs and project delays have dampened demand, though some recovery is visible as previously stalled projects restart.

Despite the cautious outlook, Tokyo Steel expressed optimism that ongoing efforts to balance supply and demand will support market stability.
