SHS Stahl Holding Saar has chosen Danieli Centro Cranes to supply advanced crane systems for efficient EAF operations at two meltshops in Germany.
The heavy-duty, multifunction cranes, each with a capacity of 350 tons (up to 590 and 620 tons respectively, will be installed at Saarstahl in Volklingen and Dillinger in Dillingen. Each crane will serve an entire meltshop, handling EAF scrap charging, ladle transport, molten steel movement, and furnace maintenance, while ensuring safe handling of critical components.
Built to stringent DIN EN1090 European standards, the four-girder cranes will feature high-efficiency systems, advanced safety functions, and automation-ready technology. Though initially operated manually, both will support semi-automatic and remote operation via ground-based pulpit desks.
The cranes will be engineered and manufactured at Danieli’s facility in Thailand using robotic welding for top-tier quality. Comprehensive in-house testing will ensure performance and reliability before shipment. Installation is scheduled by Danieli, with commissioning expected in September 2027 and April 2028.
