ArcelorMittal Distribution Iberia is constructing a new state-of-the-art distribution center at its Villaverde plant in Madrid, a strategic logistics hub for steel distribution, long product processing, and recycling. The center will consolidate operations currently based in Getafe and Coslada, bringing 50 employees to the new facility.
Construction began in March 2024, covering 26,300 m2 (20,000 m2 covered, 6,300 m2 outdoor). The new facility will enable expanded services to better serve Madrid and surrounding provinces.
Equipped with four saws for cutting long products, two saws with drills, an oxy-fuel cutting table, and a new shot-blasting and painting line, the center will enhance processing capabilities. For logistics, ten trucks, including two powered by liquefied gas and one electric, will ensure fast delivery.
Sustainability is a key focus: the building was constructed using ArcelorMittal’s low-carbon XCarb recycled and renewably produced steel, 1,900 tons of beams and 21,000 m2 of panels for the facade and roof. Additionally, 60pct of the steel used for the center’s overhead cranes was XCarb.
As ArcelorMittal’s distribution arm in Spain and Portugal, the Iberia unit specializes in customized, sustainable steel solutions tailored to evolving customer demands.
