    Steel exports rise 3.6pct in May 2025 YoY supported by strong EU demand – ADMIB

    Turkey’s steel sector exported USD 1.5 bln worth of products in May, marking a 3.6pct YoY increase and contributing significantly to the country’s USD 2.7 bln in combined steel and non-ferrous metals exports, which accounted for 12.7pct of total exports, according to official data from the Mediterranean Exporter Associations (ADMIB).

    ADMIB Chairperson Fuat Tosyali highlighted the sector’s resilience amid global headwinds, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

    Within ADMIB’s own May figures, steel exports declined 5pct to USD 188 mln, while non-ferrous metals rose 4pct to USD 74 mln.

    Germany remained Turkey’s top steel export market, followed by Italy, Romania, Spain, and the UK. Exports to Belgium jumped 167pct, with Spain and Ukraine also seeing strong increases at 64pct and 49pct, respectively.

    For ADMIB, Romania led regional steel exports, followed by Italy, Iraq, Germany, and Egypt. The strongest growth came from Lebanon (203pct), Ukraine (143pct), and Morocco (106pct).
