Turkey imported 8.2 mln tons of scrap between January and May 2025, marking a 5.3pct decline YoY, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The Netherlands remained Turkey’s top scrap supplier during this period, shipping 1.37 mln tons, followed by the United States with 1.3 mln tons and the United Kingdom with 900,000 tons.
In May alone, scrap imports totaled approximately 1.6 mln tons, down 11pct YoY and nearly 15pct lower compared to April.
