Tata Steel reported a slight YoY increase of 0.28pct in its consolidated steel production for the first quarter of FY26, reaching 7.29 mln tons, according to a stock exchange filing. However, consolidated deliveries declined by 2.84pct to 7.19 mln tons over the same period.
In India, crude steel production stood at 5.26 mln tons, while deliveries dropped to 4.75 mln tons. The company attributed the lower deliveries to maintenance-related shutdowns at its Jamshedpur plant, specifically, the relining of the G Blast Furnace, and at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL). Tata Steel noted that operations at NINL have since resumed and the blast furnace relining at Jamshedpur is expected to be completed by July 2025.
Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.7 mln tons of liquid steel in Q1 FY26, with deliveries of 1.5 mln tons. Both figures were slightly higher compared to the same period last year.
In the UK, the company continued to serve customers through downstream processing of purchased substrate, with quarterly deliveries totaling 0.6 mln tons. Construction on the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) project at Port Talbot is set to begin this month.
Meanwhile, Tata Steel Thailand reported a modest increase in both production and deliveries. Output rose to 0.33 mln tons from 0.31 mln tons a year earlier, while deliveries grew to 0.34 mln tons from 0.31 mln tons in Q1 FY25.
Tata Steel Group ranks among the world’s leading steel producers, with an annual crude steel capacity of 35 mln tons.
