Primetals Technologies has inaugurated a state-of-the-art service workshop in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, aimed at enhancing maintenance and refurbishment support for Brazil’s steel and industrial sectors.
Strategically located near key steel producers, the 7,968-square-meter facility offers a wide range of advanced services, including caster roll maintenance, nickel plating, and specialized coating technologies for rolling mills and galvanizing lines.
The workshop features cutting-edge capabilities such as laser cladding, HVOF and HVAF coating systems, and a modern mechatronics and hydraulics test center. These technologies are designed to extend equipment life, improve reliability, and serve not only the steel sector but also mining, oil and gas, wind energy, and paper industries.
With its focus on efficiency, sustainability, and traceability, the facility integrates digital tools like the Maintenance and Asset Technology (MAT) system to streamline workflows, enhance quality control, and provide real-time tracking for repair processes. The opening event included a technology seminar, showcasing the workshop’s capabilities to customers and industry leaders.
