Turkey imported approximately 8.1 mln tons of scrap in the first five months of 2025, reflecting a 5.5pct YoY decrease, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The Netherlands emerged as the largest supplier during this period, shipping 1.37 mln tons to Turkey. The United States followed closely with 1.33 mln tons, while the United Kingdom provided 900,000 tons.
In May 2025, Turkey’s scrap imports stood at around 1.6 mln tons, down 11pct YoY and nearly 15pct compared to the previous month.
