India’s Stella Metal & Tubes has awarded Danieli Breda a contract to supply a 20-MN steel extrusion plant in Gujarat to meet rising demand for stainless steel and corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipes, primarily for oil and gas, chemical, food processing, and automotive sectors.
The facility will produce seamless stainless steel pipes ranging from 33 to 68 mm in diameter with wall thicknesses between 3 and 8 mm, based on market requirements.
The plant will feature advanced automation, including robotic tool handling and 3D vision systems for automated tool size control. Billet and tube temperatures at the press exit will be continuously monitored to reduce process fluctuations and support real-time optimization and quality control. The system is designed for fast extrusion cycles, under 60 seconds, ensuring process stability and consistent high product quality.
Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for 2026.
