Silvan Rolls to build new steel plant in Karabuk

Silvan Rolls, a long-established Turkish producer of sphero and steel rolling rolls, is moving ahead with plans to build a new steel plant in Karabuk.

The project, backed by parent company Vergili Group, will feature a 50-ton electric arc furnace, ladle, and a three-strand caster, designed for an annual capacity of 400,000 tons. Commissioning is targeted for the first quarter of 2026. Demora, also part of the Vergili Group, will act as the OEM, providing meltshop, rolling mill, and turnkey plant expertise.

Vesuvius Technology has been chosen as a key partner, supplying ladle and tundish mechanisms along with critical refractory solutions to support safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.

Founded in Istanbul in 1957, Silvan Rolls exports 70pct of its production to international markets including North America, the Middle East, South Asia, and the Far East. Its products, known for high resistance to heat and wear, serve hot bar, light section, medium section, wire rod, and rail mills. The company became part of Vergili Group in 2019.
