Indian steel producer Godawari Power and Ispat (GPIL) has awarded an INR 500 mln (USD 56.7 mln) contract to John Cockerill India for the engineering, design, manufacture, and supply of a 6HI Cold Rolling Mill at Tilda, Chhattisgarh.
The scope also covers supervision of erection and commissioning, with completion targeted by end-2026. The advanced 6HI mill will enable GPIL to produce higher-quality metal strips with greater precision than conventional mills.
GPIL is an integrated steelmaker with operations spanning iron ore mining, pellets, sponge iron, billets, wire rod, supported by captive iron ore mines and power generation assets.
