Turkey imported 2.5 mln tons of billets in the first seven months of 2025, up nearly 62pct YoY, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Malaysia was the largest supplier, shipping about 687,300 tons, followed by Russia with 565,100 tons and China with 379,500 tons.
In July alone, billet imports reached 453,100 tons, up 73pct from a year earlier but down 10pct from June.
