CSC raises HRC, CRC, plate prices for October

China Steel Corp (CSC), Taiwan’s largest steelmaker, will raise domestic prices of HRC, plates, CRC, and rerolling-grade HRC by TWD 500 (USD 16.5) per ton for October, while keeping EG, galvanized, and electrical steel prices unchanged.

CSC noted that easing US tariff concerns, a recent 0.25pct US Fed rate cut, and Taiwan’s strong exports and tax incentives are supporting demand. Taiwan’s 2025 GDP growth forecast has been revised up to 4.45pct.

Raw material costs are also rising, with iron ore above USD 105 per ton and met coal at USD 185-190 per ton, helping support global steel prices. US HRC hovers around USD 900 per ton, while European prices are gradually increasing. In Asia, Baosteel kept October prices flat, while Formosa Ha Tinh in Vietnam lifted HRC by USD 10 per ton.

With Q4 demand seasonally stronger and inventories low, CSC said supply-demand balance is improving. The company expects October and Q4 prices to remain “flat-to-high” and will continue tailoring solutions to boost downstream orders.
