JISCO Hongxing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. has successfully commissioned its new 4,200mm heavy plate mill, rolling the first plate on 28 August 2025. The project expands JISCO’s production capacity beyond the limitations of its existing 2,800mm mill and represents a key milestone for the company.
The mill was equipped with a full suite of automation solutions from SMS group’s X-Pact portfolio, ensuring stable performance from the outset. The system integrates precise process tracking and coordinated sequence control, enabling all components to operate seamlessly.
Key technologies include X-Pact Pass Schedule Calculation for optimal setup parameters, Batch Schedule Handler for multi-plate and batch rolling efficiency, and advanced shape, profile, and flatness controls for superior product quality. An enhanced in-bar thickness control system with head-tail end compensation further improves yield by reducing thickness variations.
With hot commissioning completed, JISCO and SMS will now focus on stabilizing production and optimizing operations to ensure sustained performance at the new facility.
