Turkey’s scrap import prices moved up this week, supported by higher freight and collection costs. Prices were assessed at USD 335-340 per ton CFR, compared with USD 330-335 per ton CFR last week.
Turkish steel mills remain cautious, however, as demand for finished steel in both domestic and export markets remain weak. Despite sluggish sales, higher scrap costs have pushed finished steel export offers up by about USD 5 per ton from last week.
Rebar offers now stand at USD 545-555 per ton FOB, while wire rod offers are in the range of USD 560-570 per ton FOB.
