EU imposes anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled steel from Egypt, Japan and Vietnam

The European Commission (EC) has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of certain hot-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy, or other-alloy steel from Egypt, Japan, and Vietnam. The measures effective for five years follow an investigation confirming that imports from these countries were dumped into the EU market.

    The duties are as follows:

Egypt: 11.7pct on Ezz Steel and other producers.

Japan: 6.9pct on Tokyo Steel; 29.9pct on Daido Steel and JFE Steel; 30pct on Nippon Steel and all other producers.

Vietnam: 12.1pct on Formosa and other producers, excluding Hoa Phat.

EC clarified that provisional duties imposed since 7 April 2024 will not be collected retroactively.

Imports from India were also reviewed but the probe was terminated after the EC found no evidence of dumping.

    The product scope covers hot-rolled flat-rolled steel products, in coils or cut-to-length, not further worked than hot-rolled and not clad, plated, or coated, under a range of HS codes including 7208.1000, 7208.2500, 7208.2600, 7208.2700, 7208.3600, 7208.3700, 7208.3800, 7208.3900, 7208.4000, 7208.5210, 7208.5299, 7208.5310, 7208.5390, 7208.5400, 7211.1300, 7211.1400, 7211.1900, 7225.1910, 7225.3090, 7225.4090 , 7226.1910, 7226,9191 and 7226.9199.
